Posted: May 29, 2019

Children of all ages can benefit from taking martial arts classes. Martial arts teaches children discipline, hand-eye coordination, self-confidence, and even relaxation. Here are just three things you can do as a parent to support your child in their martial arts.

Attend Competitions

Martial arts doesn't always have to be about competition; there is much more to it than that. Still, competition can be a big part of a child's martial arts experience, and attending tournaments and other events is a great way to show your support. Your child will appreciate the fact that you're there for them, and that can sometimes mean more than whether or not they win the competition. Fuller Youth Institute recommends being careful about how you act at the event. You should let them know that whatever happens out there is okay, and that you will still love them.

Mental Wellness

Members of the LGBT community are susceptible to increased rates of depression and suicide.
